An Efficient Recursive Multibeam Pattern Subtraction (MPS) Beamformer for Planar Antenna Arrays Optimization

In this paper, a new beamforming technique for planar two-dimensional arrays is proposed optimizing the sidelobe levels (SLLs) by using recursive multibeam pattern subtraction (MPS) technique. The MPS beamformer demonstrated and its convergence to lower SLL values investigated controlled. performance analysis has shown that can effectively reduce down less than −50 dB relative mainlobe level utilizing major sidelobes information in radiation pattern. addition, be applied any array geometry such as rounded corners rectangular provided original contains peaks. comparison with recent related techniques provides faster time. On other hand, which cannot achieved efficient tapering windows arrays. Finally, scanning of simulation results show solid consistent over whole angular range from broadside endfire directions array.
